Temperature Rising Index for Pathways

Record and reveal corporations' ambitions and pathways to carbon reduction. Enter the corporation name to reveal its performance so far.

First, let's learn about TRIPs

What corporations have been contributing to limiting the rise in temperature to 1.5°C

Corporations' ambition towards carbon reduction

Given that Taiwan's official commitment to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, our target is to let corporations that have already achieved net-zero emissions/carbon neutral targets be seen by the community and to encourage more corporations that have not yet achieved their targets to step up efforts.TRIPs currently prioritizes the disclosure of corporations with an active carbon reduction ambition, including:

Taiwanese corporations' Ambition of Carbon Reduction

How ambitious Taiwanese corporations are regarding carbon reduction? According to the TRIPs, more than 100 corporations in Taiwan have made a clear commitment to net-zero emissions or carbon neutrality by joining the Science-Based Target Reduction Initiative (SBTi), the Renewable Energy 100 percent (RE100) organization, or by announcing it in the "Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility Award" or on public occasions. According to the information actively provided and passively disclosed, the current percentage of corporate ranked "Excellent" and "Good" is over 35%.

Compared to the quantity of CO₂ emissions, the rise and fall of temperature is something that the general public can intuitively perceive and relate to. The ranking method employed by TRIPs makes it easier to communicate with the public. Unlike conventional greenhouse gas emission data, it presents temperature levels by different colors, making it easily understandable, communicable, and widely disseminated among the general public.

We also accept data submissions from businesses to showcase their carbon reduction efforts. We encourage more corporations to make firm commitments and pledge to ensure the rise in temperature is not exceeding the 1.5°C limit. Through this platform, we aim to highlight and recognize corporations dedicated to reducing climate risks and actively working towards achieving net-zero emissions.

Why should we adopt TRIPs?

TRIPs utilizes the global warming scenarios presented in the Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). It applies the Absolute Global Temperature Potential (AGTP) model to assess the temperature implications of corporate carbon reduction efforts. The calculations involve incorporating reduction targets such as target year, base year, and reduction rates as well as emission data provided by each corporation or organization. These are subsequently applied to the warming scenarios aligned with AR6, and the AGTP method is used to simulate the temperature pathways of each corporation until 2050 or even the end of this century. This approach reveals whether a corporation's climate commitment aligns with the global objective of controlling the rise in temperature within the 1.5°C limit.
