CommonWealth Magazine has a mission to pursue a fairer and better society. With over 40 years of experience, it has accumulated a strong ability to identify trends and issues, abundant research and analysis capabilities, and a solid network of corporate relationships.
Since the 1990s, CommonWealth Magazine has been at the forefront of conducting corporate social responsibility surveys and advocating for the role of corporate citizens. It is also actively shaping the most influential sustainable ecosystem in the Mandarin-speaking region. Working together with the industry, the government, and the academia to face the new wave of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) issues, we aim to contribute to the sustainable development of society and the land.

With the mission of pursuing a more equitable and better society, CommonWealth aims to use knowledge to promote social progress and positive atmosphere. It strives to align with international standards by working together with the industry, the government, and the academia to enhance Taiwan's competitiveness and influence regarding sustainability in the world.

In 1994, CommonWealth Magazine pioneered the concept of "Corporate Citizenship" and introduced it as an evaluation criterion in its annual benchmarking of corporations. In 1996, it organized the first "Corporate Social Responsibility Survey," becoming the earliest media outlet in Taiwan to advocate for CSR.

Since 2007, CommonWealth Magazine has been organizing the annual "Excellnce of Sustainable Social Responsibility Awards" to recognize the "Top 100 Sustainable Corporations" in Taiwan, which are corporations that demonstrate outstanding corporate social responsibility and sustainable impact. These awards are highly regarded by corporations and serve as a significant driving force for their advancement and positive contributions to society.

天下大學公民獎

The "CommonWealth University Social Responsibility Award" was established in 2019 as the first-ever survey of university social responsibility (USR) in Taiwan. It follows 17 of the United Nations Sustainable Development targets (SDGs) and aims to encourage universities to have a greater social impact. Also, it serves as a forward-looking force driving social progress and development in Taiwan.

The "CSR@CommonWealth" channel was established in 2017 and has become the most influential sustainability dialogue platform in the Chinese-speaking world. In 2020, it collaborated with the government and businesses to advocate for projects such as the Sustainable Development targets (SDGs), Tamsui Convention, and Unique 20(U20), creating a sustainable ecosystem that connects the government, youth, and society to foster consensus on sustainability.

The "CommonWealth Sustainability CWS" (天下永續會) was established on Earth Day on April, 2021 with the mission "ESG: From Compliance to Competitiveness". It is dedicated to enhancing the sustainability competitiveness of businesses through the principles of sharing, learning, and mutual benefit. The alliance has now become the largest and most influential ESG platform in Taiwan, driving positive impact in the business sector.

Technology makes cities safer, healthier, and more sustainable. "Future City" is a smart technology and design exchange platform launched by "CommonWealth Magazine," focusing on future technology and urban governance. Since 2020, "Future City" and "CSR@CommonWealth" have been jointly organizing the "UN Sustainable Development targets (SDGs) International Forum" annually. They collaborate with cities, businesses, organizations, and citizens to align with the United Nations' 17 sustainable development targets. Through innovative practices and the implementation of ESG thinking in Taiwan, they strive to realize a sustainable future that is diverse and inclusive.

In 2001, CommonWealth Magazine released the special issue "319 Towns Moving Forward" and distributed one million copies of the "Town Passport," sparking a trend of people exploring rural towns. Since then, "Smiling Taiwan" has become synonymous with deep travel in Taiwan, venturing into every corner and emphasizing local sense and the pursuit of a beautiful life, uncovering moments that touch travelers' hearts. In 2022, based on the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) destination criteria, "Smiling Taiwan" identified seven actions for "golden travelers" and six commitments for sustainable doers, establishing an friendly environment for sustainable tourism.
